Police council tax lowest for more than five years (11th February 2009)Audio available
Avon and Somerset Police Authority today set an increase for the police part of the council tax of £6.94 per year or less than 2p a day for the average household.

The Chair of Avon and Somerset Police Authority has been advised by the Treasurer that the Police Authority has no exposure to Icelandic banks and its investments are secure.

IPCC report on annual police complaints figures (16th October 2008)
Commenting on today’s IPCC report on annual complaint statistics, Dr Moira Hamlin, Chair of the Police Authority, said: “The Police Authority’s Professional Standards Committee works closely with the force to monitor complaints, and while there has been an increase in the number received in the past year we believe this is down to the public’s confidence in the Constabulary’s ability to handle their concerns properly as people have been encouraged by the force to give feedback, both positive and negative.
