One of the key objectives of the Police Authority is to consult with our communities to find out what they want to happen, and what they think about policing in their area.
Your views will help the Police Authority Members when it comes to setting local policing priorities and targets, as well guide Members when setting the police budget.
There are a number of ways the Police Authority seeks your views including:
- Through a feedback form on the website;
- By opening up Full Police Authority meetings to allow the public to speak;
- By carrying out public consultations to find out your views on policing locally;
- Through our online polls
- Member attendance at Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings.
You can also get involved with the vital work of the Police Authority by volunteering for our Independent Custody Visiting Scheme, through which trained members of the community check on the conditions of detainees in police custody. For more information and to find out more about our latest vacancies in Yeovil and Bristol visit the dedicated Independent Custody Visiting website.
Neighbourhood Policing is about finding local solutions to local problems through close partnership working between police, councils and other partners and the local community.
If you know of a team or an individual that has gone the extra mile visit the Community Policing Awards page for more information on how you can get involved in recognising someone who has made a real difference.
